Honey Pilsner Redux
Decided that my biggest success so far with the ol’ home brewin’ has been my Honey Pilsner. Last time I made it I used Black Rock Pilsner (the blue can, not the export version) and about 1kg of honey (off the shelf Pams “generic” honey) topped up with a bit of Dextrose. I invested in a lager yeast, then went right ahead and used the packet yeast as well. Was a bit... Read more
jQuery funness
Had a great day on the coal front today. I’ve come to a point in my WordPress theme development where I’m pretty comfortable with breaking it down and building it back up again to suit any given project. It’s certainly not the be-all and end-all of web development by any stretch of the imagination, and in super custom jobs I’m hoping to get in amongst some serious MVC... Read more
Microblogging
Finally figured out why I don’t blog anymore. It’s because I’m now a microblogger. Wait. A what? Yeah, a microblogger. I’m all social media-ed up to the eyeballs at the best of times. I consider myself a fairly early adopter of Facebook, Twitter and now Google Plus… and the beauty of these networks is it takes seconds to post what I’m thinking or... Read more

Wow! Looks like every imaginable part of the country got snow today… Except us! We admittedly got more snow on Te Mata Peak than I’ve ever seen before, but none down here at home… Any of you other TGMers get any?... Read more
Outsourced
If you haven’t seen the movie or the TV series then the ‘readers digest’ version is ‘Guy turns up for work and finds that company he works for has been outsourced to India’. The TV series is quite funny, however it isn’t so funny when you find that your own company has done it to you. Yep! That’s right TGMers, Baldrick has had to find a new job. Just... Read more
Android Rules
Wow! Just when you thought I couldn’t become a bigger Google fanboy, I go and get myself a Samsung Galaxy 5 Android phone! And it rocks! First things first though.stuff I don’t like. The keyboard is a mega minus…frankly it’s way too small to be really useful.Swype, the drag your finger input method certainly makes things easier and makes input almost fun. It’s... Read more

Brew #3: Honey Pilsner
I’ve just cracked my fifth bottle of the hotly anticipated Honey Pilsner. And the verdict? Well, let’s rewind the story a couple of months. This magnificent brew concept came about when I was dreaming up my next big beercentric challenge. I’d come up with two GREAT ideas (well I thought they were great anyhoo). I’d read about a guy who makes dark beers (dark ale or... Read more
RIP iPod – taken before your time!
Wow… what a week on the technology front. Finally managed to do some work on TGM and implemented some basic CSS3 stuff – the kind of stuff I use on a daily basis at work. Now to find some use for my jQuery skills! Connor thought it would be nice to listen to music in the bath the other night. Ignoring my implicit instructions to make sure my iPod stayed on the basin and went... Read more
