A real human update
Figured it was time to update the blog a little!
I’ve been so busy building new types of pages into the site (very easy with the database backend… a simple tweak here and there) and collecting a few bits and pieces to fill the new content areas that I’ve kind of neglected the journal! So here’s the latest.
Firstly the three new sections are YouTube weekly (I’ll endeavour to post a new vid each week), Funnies (updated as and when I get them via email) and Reviews where I’ll posting my own personal reviews of music, movies and books with links thru to fishpond to buy them. I’m also in the process of setting up a competition in association with this new section to keep you guys coming back. I can assure you that the first give away is going to be one of Lee Childs’ books. Check out my review for Killing Floor (book 1 of the Jack Reacher novels) here
I’m off on my commissioning course on Saturday! Sooooo excited and just can’t wait! The only serious change to the plan for the week so far is that Santoft Forest (where we were due to do an outdoor leadership exercise next Friday) is out of service so to speak. Aunty Sally – Admin extrodinaire at Cadet Forces – informed us last night that Santoft is off limits due to extreme fire risks. He was updated by one of my fellow course mates with the info that Santoft was in fact on fire and continued to be all of last night and half of today. I guess that’s the end of that then and we’ll find out when we get there where we might be going instead!
Kirst put an offer on another house yesterday. We missed out on the last one as the vendor refused to go lower than ten grand more than what we have to spend. With this one we’ve offered ten grand less than what we have, which is five grand more than what they asked. The house has a sleepout and our sales agreement said it had to be insulated before settlement. Apparently the vendors would have taken our offer if we hadn’t said that, but it simply meant a delay whilst they asked “Uncle Jeff” how much it would cost for him to do it on the cheap for them. Kirst has a meeting (subject not yet disclosed) with the estate agent this afternoon, so I’ll post back later to let you know how it went. I figure if the answer was no then he’d have told her over the phone… So we could be home owners by tonight!!! If yer interested, check the house out here. (N.B. This link may be dead by the time you read it if we or someone else buys it!)
Been checking out my calendar and figuring March to be a busy month ATC wise!! My first two weekends are out due to the course, we have gliding the following weekend, officer update training at Ohakea the weekend after and then Basic Bushcraft Camp the last weekend!! Crazy!!!!! Kirst got an email thru from Cadet Forces last night though, changing the date for Update Training to the end of April so like YAY! I get one weekend at home at least this coming month! It also kinda means that we really HAVE to get this house as open homing is going to be damned impossible for the next little while, and we’ve only got the cottage til March 31st.
Anyways… that’s where things are at. Will keep y’all posted re: the house.

w00t!!! Congrats!!! So happy for you. Just checked out the photos and it looks great, heaps of land and really sunny – I wonder if they can guarantee the sunshine…..
Hope you have a spare room!!!
Yus… there\’s a sleepout. So long as you don\’t come when Zayne and Keiran are staying there\’ll be room for ya!
And guaranteed sunshine?? This is Hawkes Bay we\’re talking about!!
