A REAL journal entry

Real brief that is…

Highlights of the last week or so:

Got to visit Waiouru. Stayed on camp for the weekend and got to play in an old Scorpion tank, handle some drill purpose support arms (including the DP version of the Javelin hand held missile launcher – they don’t let us play with the real thing, and if even if they did, at $109,000 per round we sure as hell wouldn’t get to fire one!) and generally have a REALLY good time.

Introduced myself to metric time. Every day now has 10 deci-days (hours), divided up into 100 millidays (minutes) which are in turn divided into 100 microdays (seconds). Currently its 9:27:89. It’s a bit of a crack up when you get 5 to the hour and you look at your sidebar gadget that says something like: “4:98:78″ (yup that’s just over 1 milliday away from midday). Sound pharked, but it’s quite sensible once you get your head around it. Get up around 2:50. Start work at 3:75. Have lunch at 5:00. Watch the news at 7:50. It’s those tricky odd numbered hours I struggle with. Finish work at 5pm?? ummmm… carry the 1…

And I have a nasty head cold. I’m not dying or anything, and I sound MUCH worse than I feel. I’m all croaky n stuff, but people keep avoiding me… stepping out of my way – or like the Nerd and the ITMan; poking fun at me while I’m on the phone. BASTARDS!
