Damn that river.
Just read that a 36 y/o man from porirua drowned in the river at merrilands domain. Thats been a fav swimming spot for me and the whanau for the last few years. Idiot though, it was raining yesterday and the river would have risen and its not a good idea to swim in a rising river.
Now the question is what will happen to the swimming hole at merrilands? will it become a ghost town of a place since someone died there? doubt it!, it will probly attract more morbid people like myself.
“hey jimmy, lets go swimming!”
“o.k. johnny, where shall we go?”
“merrilands domain?”
“is that where that 36 y/o drowned?”
“yup”
“alright lets go!”
I like merrilands domain, its cool, it has a couple of banks to jump off ranging in height from about 3 meters to about 15 meters. Great feeling free falling into a river, unless you belly flop of course.
But there shall be no swimming for me, no im too full of food from yesterday, I would probably sink! that and the rain is still lurking around so the rivers shall remain off limits.
If only the 36 y/o had thought the same as me, he might still be here today.
What a stink Christmas for his poor family!.
