I may not confess to being a Geek, but I must confess to being a Rugby Geek.
And I’m a most happy Rugby Geek right now, because Taranaki have won the Ranfurly Shield.
It’s been 15 years to the day since Taranaki beat Auckland to win it, and tonight we celebrate the victory over a gutsy and hard playing Southland.
Next up is a defense against the Hawkes Bay Magpies on sunday, Ive got my ticket booked!.
And that’s not all, Roll on the Rugby World cup and Ireland vs USA.

Yeah bloody awesome!! I’m guessing they’re not going to offer it up for the Magpies tomorrow? Should be a good game to watch I reckon, shame it’s over your side of the country!
Yeah the shield is on the line, and the stadium gunna be packed!
Its will be a tight game I reckon, Magpies and ‘Naki pretty even teams on stats and form.
But I reckon with home advantage ‘Naki should take the win.
Well done to the Naki! Seriously outclassed the Magpies.
Yeah was a good game, made better by the fact it was a day game played in good conditions and in front of a 17,000+ crowd.
Even better with it being the last game of the year, we get to keep the shield over the summer instead of just 2 weeks like last time.
Only 1 small peeve for me, the fact that according to the official ITM Cup website, Taranaki finished 4th behind both Canterbury and Bay of Plenty even though we won more games!. Damn bonus point bull sheet! ‘Naki would have got more perhaps if we played lots of day games at home like Canterbury did!.
