Silent Running

Laz has been silent running for weeks… cruising just beneath the surface where only the strongest of sonar equipment could pick him up but he could still keep a watchful eye out. Me? Well I’ve sunk to well below periscope depth for the last five days.

With four weenies in the house, it’s been a full on crazy time! And absolutely awesome to boot. They all got spoiled rotten for Xmas, which was such fun to be a part of. The little guy got sooooooo many pressies. Went out to the sleepout to retrieve a box to pack something in this morning and discovered we hadn’t even given him the biggest pressie, a ride on tractor thinggeee. So spoilt once again he was this morning.

Our celebrations started on xmas eve. Kirst and I sunk 3 bottles of Lindauer, and decided it would be excessive to open a fourth (in spite of having another 4 in the wine rack!). So we sunk a few beers. That hurt. Not immediately, but xmas morning was a bit rough.

So we opened pressies at home, fired up all the noisy toys that took AAA batteries as my Dad (bless his soul!!) was sharp enough to buy us a 16 pack and then lamented that we hadn’t thought about buying the same number of AAs for all the toys WE had bought! All good. we have some now, but the AAA toys are still working perfectly good. Guess we’ll at least chuck some AA’s in the Operation game that K Man got. Could be a blast for todays party. ANYWAYS!

Round 2 was at Kirsts’ Aunt and Uncles house. Quiet, subdued nibblies and small amounts of present exchanging. Round 3 was yesterday (boxing day) at Kirsts Nanas house (Hi Gaynor!!) with all of her extended family. Was fantastic!!! Just a shame we both had to drive (too many troops for our less than sensible cars!).

Today we’ve got it sorted. Mums Taxi arrives at 10 to take us to the orchard. Someone will drive us home. If everyone is too pissed, Mum is going to shout us a REAL Taxi home. W00T! Time to get our drink on. And Mum has ALL the toys for the kids. Swing set, sand pit (with Gazebo), inflatable Warehouse swimming pool and best of all… the four wheeler motorbike… which (by the looks of these photos) our big three kids LOVE!

Anyhoo… from here? We go to the beach on the 28th. No phone or interweb til we return on the afternoon of the 2nd of Jan. So I will be slipping to the murky depths again. And murky they shall be. Our wine rack still has 9 assorted bottles of wineage in them, and we’ve got about 6 or 7 dozen beers left. Roll on New Years!!

Theres a reason im hiding under the surface. so i wont be seen or talked too. nuff said.

  5. Mandz says:

Why hide? Gotta let some in, in order to get some out. Helps to know what other people think of the situation (sometimes) too. Gives a different angle to view from.

Am I the only one that doesn’t have drunken plans for New Years? Or the only one who didn’t get drunk on Christmas? OMG, it’s true, I’ve turned into some freakishly sad 30 year old!!! That’s enough to turn anyone to drink! Must make New Year plans NOW

  7. Mandz says:

Nothing freakishly sad bout being in the dirty thirties Gem, it’s totally rocking for me. But yes, you should be planning to let your hair down for new years, have some fun and enjoy good company.

  9. Mandz says:

I had my hopes up that I’d be spending New Years with my man but then at the last minute he was asked to work :( Gutted. So am having a girly night with a good friend whose man is also working tonight – wine, food and sexy men on DVD. Staid but welcome as I’ve tried to party on NYE without my man and it’s just not as much fun. Plus we still have to pack and sort out stuff for when we fly out on Wednesday for 2 months so can’t completely write myself off and spend Tuesday on the couch, tempting though it is :)
