Summer Catch Up & iTunes

Well Chrissy has been and gone and we’ve had a great time! In a brief summary:

Did Christmas morning here at home with the whole whanau – all four (and a half!) kids and Poppa Neil too.  Kids well spoilt as always!  Went to Kirsty’s Dad’s family’s place for a brief “howsit going” – which was supposed to be breakfast, only we were late and had eaten already.  Did dinner at the Orchard with the whole whanau – Mum, Jack, 2 of 3 brothers and their better halves and all the kidlets – a bit of a first for us (for a long while anyhoo) as it’s usually brekkie or lunch at Mums.  Had BBQ’d ham and old fashioned (albeit organic) turkey with all the trimmings!

Boxing Day saw me lining up with the nastiest array of nerdy fan boys outside Dick Smith’s for their Boxing Day sale. I wasn’t there for a bargain, but the Knights who say NEE definitely were.  I was there to buy my Rock Band for PS2.  Dear GOD I love this game.  I’m totally hooked on playing drums and get a serious kick out of playing a full 4 piece rock band with the kidlets.

Did lunch with Kirsty’s Mum’s family later that day then out to the beach on the 27th for about 10 days.  Low key New Years with non-drinking pregnant wife – I only had about 9 beers total, but a huuuuuuge feed of veg and 3 meats done on the barbie spit.

Food. Beers. Food. More beers. Sun. Book. Mild sunburn. Swim. More sunburn.  Book. More beer.  Thus went our beach holiday.  I’d show you snaps, only I’ve gone all retro and used my film camera for most of the last two weeks.  Got two rolls of film sitting in the fridge and halfa in the camera still too.  Watch this space!

Final blast of Christmas today with the arrival of my Dad and little blister Bri who came bearing giftees for all the kids – super spoiled all over again!

Secret Santa was nice to me this year… I got a $50 iTunes voucher.  That was AWESOME but totally threw me… you mean I can PAY for downloaded media?!?!  Hehe wonders never cease.  Of course that meant I had to put iTunes onto my PC which makes me almost as bad as every bugger who actually owns an iPod.  Bah humbug.  Oh well – maybe one day I’ll join the sheep with that too ;)  So far I’ve downloaded the score from Transformers 2 (loved that movie!) and am currently downloading Ironman –  another of my fave movies (and yes… another comic book cross over movie in my top 50 list!!)

Anyhoo… this is my brief update gone anti- brief.  Full on summer barbie on Saturday with Kirsty’s workmates… suspect there’ll be plenty of Rock Band and Guitar Hero Metallica being played!!

OH woops – forgot to mention… Doing okay with the summer time read of The Lord of the Rings – got the Fellowship hammered away while at the beach. One down, two to go!!

Sounds like you have had a great Christmas/New Year break. My New Year's was even more low key than yours. Wayne was working so I spent an hour doing yoga with my new Wii (Chrissy pressie from my man!) then watched about 10 episodes of House (season 3) and started playing CSI: Hard Evidence on the Wii – all supplimented with 1 glass of Kahlua and milk and half a glass of wine. I don't even have a pregnant wife to use as an excuse!

Yeah ya gotta love the new super-interactive generation of rhythm/action games huh? Soooooooooo much fun!

What's the CSI game like? Been tempted to look into those for the PC

The CSI games are pretty good. I've played them on PC, DS and Wii now and all are good. I think the Wii version is the best – lots more interactive. But that might just be because it is a newer medium so they have improved the game since the first ones were brought out. CSI is definitely one of the better investigative games. I got Sherlock Holmes and Women's Murder Club games for the DS for Christmas and finished each of them within a day of starting. The Women's Murder Club game was very basic and basically told you exactly what you had to look for – much like a 'spot the item in the picture' game – nothing very hard about that! Sherlock was better – lots of puzzles and deductions. A bit like Professor Leyton (1 & 2), although Professor Leyton is the best of them so far – takes me a few days of fairly solid playing to complete them. Probably because of the brain strain with all the puzzles :)
