the glimpse of summer
its raining outside. i know this cause its wet and i had to find shoes. really quite an crap end to what has been a relatively interesting week. ok remember my neighbour? well he decided that cause he was going to fail an exam on friday that none of us should pass either. long story short i got an hours sleep, complained, and he was trespassed for a week. slink 2 – josh 0. last week also saw the demise of the salmons auto transmission, in what could be described as a rather large grinding, thrashing, implosion. hense why i had to withdraw it from sale. so instead todd, shane, and i rolled with plan B. and just under a grand, and 3 days of being coated in grease, she now rolls on a race bred s50 manual trans from a celica. mint. so anyway on day three of the rebuild, i walked out to find 3 windows smashed on my baby, almost $1600 of glass and labour. slink 2 – josh and screwball mates 1. not that i can prove it, so cheers to ami and smith and smith for such an excellent and speedy repair and write-off. good stuff.
so you would think that my week was on the rather unfortunate crap side. you would be wrong. and this is purely because of the weather. up until today we have had 4 straight days of what could only be described as summer. 24 degrees! it was even good enough that we packed up and took off to the beach, where we dug a hole sat in it, and did the student thing and drank. observe.
figure 1. todd, alex, and matt in the hole.
figure 2. slinks armchair, the hole wasnt wide enough
figure 3. slink. note the start of what will be a “slug” on his upper lip
yes should mention i am growing a mo for no particular reason at all. also i finally have kicked my chest infection, and on sunday finally get to meet up with my hotter female penpal. watch this space…
slink.

forgot to ask. moon man or baldrick. did either of you encounter as Matthew larkin during your times with 49 sqn? keep forgetting to ask him which kapiti atc unit he was with, but yes that would be him in the first photo.
Nope – but then again I didn’t spend any time at 49 Squadron. FYI – there is only one Kapiti Sqn. What you are thinking of is 41 (City of Porirua) which used to be 41 (Kapi-Man). Baldrick is the 49 man…
erg… When I say “Kapi-Man” I of course mean Kapi-mana – which (the point I was trying to make) was the unit I paraded with. Go go SQNLDR Te Tau
If you mean Matthew Larking, he was with No. 1 (City of Wellington) Squadron and then No. 49 (District of Kapiti) Squadron. Yes I know him.
Not that you can rally tell it is him in the photo.
