Wow. I feel like I’ve joined the dark side or something. I just used PayPal to buy something on eBay Autralia. What a geek.

For years now we (the blokes in our family) have been after a copy of Deadly Encounter on DVD.  It was a favourite of ours when we were kids after Jack acquired a copy of it taped off of TV.  I’m pretty sure we wore the tape out completely watching “Jack’s helicopter movie”.  As much as we’ve tried previously, we haven’t been able to find a copy as it’s no longer made so it’s REALLY hard to come by.  So imagine my joy after talking about it with Jack last night and finding a copy on eBay!!

So for the uninitiated: It’s a pretty cheesy made for TV movie that stars Larry Hagman (aka J.R. Ewing of Dallas fame) as Sam, a chopper pilot hired by an ex-girlfriend to take on the mob in his Hughes 500.  But what it lacks in serious story line and great dialogue, it more than makes up for in fancy flying.

Check out this YouTube clip showing the opening scene from Deadly Encounter.  Sam is so uber cool he doesn’t push his machine out of the hangar to start it up… no!  He fires it up in the hangar and flies it out.  Legend.
